Marvell High-Speed Optical Connectivity Solutions Achieve 2024 Lightwave Innovation Honors

Marvell is excited to announce that three of its high-speed optical connectivity solutions have been distinguished among the best in the industry by the 2024 Lightwave Innovation Reviews. The three awards validate Marvell leadership in PAM4 DSP, coherent DSP and data center interconnect (DCI) modules for accelerated infrastructure.

A panel of judges, comprised of experts from the optical communications community, awarded Marvell with the highest score possible of 5.0 for both its Nova 1.6 Tbps PAM4 electro-optics platform and COLORZ® 800 ZR/ZR+ pluggable module, and an outstanding 4.5 honoree status for its Orion 800 Gbps coherent DSP. The honors reflect the industry’s recognition of Marvell leading-edge technologies to address the growing bandwidth and connectivity needs of artificial intelligence (AI), cloud data center and carrier networks.

Marvell 2024 Lightwave Innovation Reviews honorees include:

  • Nova, the industry’s first 1.6T PAM4 DSP featuring a breakthrough 200 Gbps per lambda optical bandwidth. Nova doubles the optical bandwidth of current solutions to enable 1.6 Tbps pluggable modules for scaling AI clusters. Nova extends the multi-source pluggable optics ecosystem and provides the advanced technology needed to alleviate data center network bottlenecks as the industry transitions to 51.2 Tbps networking architectures.
  • COLORZ® 800, the industry’s first family of 800 Gbps ZR/ZR+ pluggable modules for increasing both the bandwidth and distance of data center interconnects (DCIs). COLORZ 800 incorporates the Marvell® Orion 800 Gbps coherent DSP and innovative, field-proven silicon photonics platform, which integrates multiple discrete components into a single die, providing up to 800 Gbps of bandwidth for DCI links up to 500km. COLORZ 800 can also be enabled for connections up to 1,200km operating at 400/600 Gbps to replace traditional transport equipment across a greater range of cloud infrastructure.
  • Orion, the industry’s first 800 Gbps coherent digital signal processor (DSP) for pluggable modules. Capable of powering connections up to 2,000 km in length, Orion is poised to change the economics and performance of the transport networks connecting carrier and cloud assets over extended geographic areas. Orion expands the opportunity to deploy coherent DSP-based modules in more use cases, including 800 Gbps metro networks, 600 Gbps regional networks, 400 Gbps long-haul networks and 800 Gbps data center interconnects.
